How to load Editor/400 using FTP

Download the Zip-file ED400SAV.ZIP from this website. Extract the file 'Editor400' from the zipfile.
Your PC must have FTP capabilities with the iSeries (AS/400).
You can use a windows program to ftp or the following DOS-procedure
First you must create a savefile EDITOR400 in QGPL:

CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/EDITOR400)

Then follow this procedure:
When it states SYSTEM you fill in the name of your iSeries (AS/400) system or the IP-address. Replace USERID with your userid and PASSWORD with your password. You must have sufficient authorization to do this. Preferably QSECOFR.
We'll assume the FTP command is in the c:\windows directory and the file Editor400 is in the root directory.
From the DOS-prompt (Start - Programs - MS-DOS prompt) you must enter the following commands: (depending on the version of the FTP program the text may differ)

C:\>WINDOWS\FTP SYSTEM 

Connected to SYSTEM. 

220-QTCP at SYSTEM.

220 Connection will close if idle more than 5

minutes. User (SYSTEM:(none)): USERID 

331 Enter password.

Password: PASSWORD
230 USERID logged on
ftp> binary 

200 Representation type is binary IMAGE

ftp> put C:\EDITOR400 QGPL/EDITOR400 

200 PORT subcommand request successful

150 Sending file to member EDITOR400 in file 

EDITOR400 in library QGPL 

250 File transfer completed successfully.

FTP> quit

On the iSeries (AS/400) you must enter the following command to restore the EDITOR400 library:

RSTLIB SAVLIB(EDITOR400) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/EDITOR400)

Grant *PUBLIC all authority (*ALL) for the objects in the library EDITOR400.

Next you should add an user-defined option E4 to PDM:

  CALL PGM(*LIBL/W@ED00) PARM(&L &F &N &X &S)

To be able to use Editor/400 the library Editor400 must be in your librarylist.

You can add users with program w@ed91:

CALL W@ED91

When using Editor/400 for the first time, you will be asked to enter the following data:

You will receive the date and security code by email in response of the form you must email to Statement/400 Software.
