Work with fields

Entering the option F=Fields in the Work with files screen shows you the layout of the file:

This subfile has the following options:

• 1=Select. Selects the field to be inserted into your source
• 3=Text. Document your field. This documentation can also be seen when you use F13 on a field in your source and then press F1. This puts field documentation at your fingertips when editing a source.
• 4=Insert. Inserts a new line with the fieldname and description.
• 5=Insert + text. Inserts a new line with fieldname and description and puts the description of the field in a new commentline above the C-spec.
• 6=ILE insert. Performs the same function as 4 but now in RPGIV style.
• 7=ILE Insert + text. Performs the same function as 5 but now in RPGIV style.
• S=Show field contents. With this powerful function you can quickly show the values that are used in the file in the specific field.
